HP Devices for the Neptun Wave Spring 2019

With HP’s lineup for the next Neptun Wave we are going into a new direction with two new EliteBooks and two devices from HP’s premium consumer offerings. We will publish detailed specifications on all devices a few days after this short overview in early February, and the prices for all devices will go online shortly before the Wave starts on February 11^th.

EliteBook x360 1040 G5 & x360 1030 G3

The EliteBook x360 1040 G5 is the bigger brother to the x360 1030 G3, which we offered last fall. Aimed at the high-end, the 1040 offers a 14” 500 nit 4k/UHD display which is covered by Gorilla Glass 5, and the fastest available Intel i7-U CPU with vPro. The built-in LTE modem will ensure that you always have a connection, and the big battery should easily provide you with a full workday of runtime (HP promises up to 17 hours). As always, we will test the battery life ourselves as soon as possible with “real world” (Mobilemark 2014 Productivity; Win10, Screen 250 nits and always on, WLAN on, Bluetooth off) settings.

The EliteBook x360 1030 G3 will be featured in our lineup in the same configuration as last fall, except for the display, which we changed to a FullHD antiglare model without the SureView privacy filter which should result in a crisper and more stable image.

A digitizer pen is included with all Neptun HP x360 laptops!

Spectre x360 13

The Spectre x360 13 from HP’s highest-end consumer line offers ample performance for most student’s needs with the latest iteration of the Intel i5 CPU (Whiskey Lake) in a compact, attractive, and well-built package. As a convertible with an included pen, it features the same precise pen functionality as the EliteBook x360 models. External devices can be connected over the two high-speed Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Spectre x360 13 will come with a three-year onsite warranty valid in Switzerland that is usually not available to consumer devices.

EliteBook 745 G5

The EliteBook 745 G5 is the 14” version of the AMD powered 735 G5 we offered last Fall. Featuring an AMD R7 2700U CPU with 16 GB RAM, the 745 G5 will bring quite a bit more performance to the table than its smaller sibling. The integrated GPU of the AMD processor is faster than the usual Intel solutions, and it closes the gap between the 745 G5 and models with basic dedicated GPUs.

Omen 15

The Omen 15 will be the second consumer device in this Sales Wave, featuring a powerful Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070. The Omen 15 is primarily aimed at gamers with a fast Intel hexacore CPU, a lightning-quick 144 Hz FullHD display, and easy upgradeability, but the powerful GPU can also be very useful for complex tasks that do not require a professional Nvidia Quadro, like machine learning or content creation. For these tasks the Geforce GTX 1070 from Nvidia’s consumer series will be the fastest option by far in our current lineup. Naturally, the Omen will be backed up by the same three-year onsite Swiss warranty as the Spectre 13.

The rest of HP’s EliteBook and ZBook lineup

The EliteBook735 G5, 840 G5, 1050 G1 and the ZBook Studio G5 will all be available again in the same configurations as in the last Wave (fall 2018). Like all of HP’s professional devices in our lineup, these devices will be covered by a three-year onsite warranty that is valid internationally. The warranty for all EliteBooks and ZBooks can be extended up to five years and accidental damage protection (ADP) is available optionally to cover against damages from spills and falls.
