First Aid Surface for Business


All Surface for Business devices have a two-year warranty that is valid internationally.

If your Surface

  • does not turn on
  • starts up and immediately turns off,
  • starts up and gets stuck on a screen (a black screen, a screen with a logo, or another screen),
  • or can't shut down normally,

Hardware driver, firmware and BIOS updates are important for your Surface to work properly. Install the updates for your Surface and Windows:

If your Surface isn't working properly, you can run the tests from the Microsoft Surface Diagnostics Toolkit for Business:

When you reset, Windows 10 will be reinstalled. You can choose to keep or remove your files. 

If your Surface doesn't boot or the recovery information has been removed, you can use the USB recovery drive to access recovery tools and fix problems.

Data loss can happen at any time and for various reasons. We therefore recommend that you back up your data regularly.
