Sophos Anti-Virus: End of Life

Our customers have so far been able to benefit from two software downloads after purchasing the laptop: They could download a virus scanner from Sophos and a backup software from Langmeier for free. The anti-virus solution was provided to us by ETH Zurich. This is now no longer available with the discontinuation of the current software version.

From mid 2023, the current Sophos virus scanner will reach the "end of life" and will no longer be supported by ETH Zurich. From then on, no more Sophos updates will be delivered. Customers who have Sophos installed on their device will receive a corresponding message.

To ensure protection on their own device, we recommend that all customers use the antivirus solution of the respective operating system, as ETH Zurich recommends. This is normally sufficient. Customers who require additional protection can purchase a replacement product from Sophos on the corresponding website.

To prevent the error message from reappearing, Sophos must be uninstalled. Here are the instructions

The backup solution from Langmeier is still available to all Neptun customers.
